Dieppe’s Place 1604 will transform into a carnival site on Canada Day. The festivities, slated for Saturday, July 1, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., will be geared to the whole family. Participants will be able to test their skills at numerous game stations, get their passport stamped, and claim prizes such as stuffed animals, figurines, trading cards, and more.
There will also be inflatable play structures, balloon sculptors, face painters, musical entertainment with DJ Empire, and delicious cookies from The Cookie Jar. Stop by the Dieppe Arts and Culture Centre for a drawing workshop with Brandon Mitchell of Birch Bark Comics, an author and illustrator of Indigenous-themed comics. Workshops will be offered every hour between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m., with the last one starting at 5 p.m. Places are limited and will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis.
The celebrations will kick off with formal ceremonies at 1 p.m., including flag-raising, the national anthem and speeches by dignitaries.
The traditional tri-community fireworks presented by the cities of Dieppe, Moncton and Riverview will begin at 10 p.m. at Riverfront Park in Moncton.
Admission is free.
